Our Story

Aarhi Shilpa began in 2004 as a homegrown dream by Manasmrita Tamuli Hazarika, rooted in passion and Assam’s rich silk heritage. She started with production of these timeless pieces with sheer creativity and no background or experience in fashion theory showcasing handwoven pieces made with Eri, Muga, Mulberry and Tassar silk. With a small team of local artisans, she crafted each design herself, ensuring authenticity and purity. Aarhi’s philosophy—no adulteration, no compromises and meant using only natural dyes and pure threads. Her dedication led to the opening of her first store, in Panbazar in 2008 and then shifted to Chanmari in 2016. Despite challenges, her commitment never wavered. Aarhi Shilpa earned recognition from both the Assam and Indian governments, representing Assamese handloom on national and international platforms. From Delhi to Johannesburg, Aarhi became a cultural ambassador. Aarhi has exported to 35+ nations and showcased garments in Fashion Weeks. Today, it stands as a symbol of resilience, sustainability, and timeless craftsmanship. Aarhi continues to preserve and promote Assam’s silk legacy with love and pride.

Manasmrita receives an overwhelming response at the Silk Fashion Show, Kochi — showcasing Aarhi’s silk designs on a national stage.

Our Values

Aarhi stands boldly for purity and purpose of crafting 100% authentic Assamese silk without a trace of adulteration. From the golden glow of Muga to the rich textures of Eri and Tassar, every weave reflects our commitment to heritage and quality. But it’s more than just fabric
it’s a lifeline for skilled artisans and silk farmers across Assam and its neighboring states, preserving age-old traditions while ensuring fair wages and sustainable livelihoods.

Each thread spun supports families, especially women-led clusters, empowering communities one saree at a time. Rooted in the Make in India movement, Aarhi proudly keeps production local, honoring India’s rich craftsmanship and pushing it to global stages — because true luxury isn’t just about what you wear, but the story it carries. With Aarhi, you’re not just wearing silk, you’re wearing India’s living legacy.
